I figure I may as well post the biggest news out of everything that's happened in my life since last I was active on Zogdog: I'm engaged! I'll be getting married this October, so just a couple more months of bachelorhood! It's kind of bittersweet... I know I'll be giving up a bunch of freedom, but I think it's worth it. I've had a good run at living how I please and doing what I want. ;)

We're busy planning everything, but it's not stressful yet... probably because she's handling most of it. We've got most of the big stuff figured out and booked, but still have a couple events to figure out (such as the luncheon -- how do you find a place that's big enough for everyone, but that also has good food that doesn't cost $50+/person?).

Uh, yeah, don't really know what else to say. Basically I just wanted to make the announcement, but there's this giant box to type in and it feels really empty...

Congrats buddy, that's really exciting. Can't help you figure anything out with the wedding planning... most guys I know usually find it best to just stay out of the way and let her decide everything. You know that even if she asks you to pick a venue or something, what that really means is that she already has something in mind

Congratulations.

Everyone seems to be getting married...
Earlier this week, every second thing on facebook was about someone getting married.

Congratulations Spring! I wish you both the best and a wonderful day. A wedding day is a lot like a Thanksgiving dinner, you put so much time and effort into something that's over in such a short time. But here's to to ya'!

I'm eventually going to have to pop the question myself... It's been about 5 1/2 years for me and my girlfriend and she's been "implying things" about marriage for the last six months.

LOL. Yeah, I think all women eventually get like that. Thankfully mine hasn't yet!

Heh, well, so far this hasn't been too much of a problem. She's been asking my opinion about various things, and I guess that so far I've been making the right choices. :)

Yeah, it's kind of frustrating, actually. I'm really looking forward to seeing the various friends and family that will be coming to town, but personally I'd rather just elope or something. It would be so much easier and cheaper. I'm all for a big party, but the "industry" really puts the screws to you with wedding stuff -- everything is way more expensive than it really should be. Although, so far we're finding some pretty good deals.

Yeah, you know how it is. We both get up for work and while waiting on the coffee she say's "if we ever get married I hope you'll quit smoking finally". Or it's "hey whatcha lookin' at?...Nothing...Well, just places for a honeymoon". Or I'll spot her surfing wedding dress websites, or talking to her mom about marriage stuff.

I think she's trying to tell me something...

LOL wow, that's some serious pressure. You know they're desperate when they don't even TRY to be coy about it

My g/f had some friends that both cornered their b/f's in the same bar booth at the same time. One of them proposed the next week, I think the second is gonna do so soon. Let's hope your g/f doesn't move onto the "public badgering into marriage" approach anytime soon!

Last year I was the best man at my brother's wedding. It was absolutely a memorable night. The food that they served amazed me to the tenth degree and they had open bar (probably not a great idea! :D ). You only live once as they say. I'll always remember that night very well. Damn, it's even nerve-wracking for the best man and that darn speech. lol. It felt like I was getting married.

As the best man, you're the highest-ranking male at the wedding because you have to actually do something. It is nerve-racking. As the groom, you don't really have to do much more than just stand around and do what the bride says
